Back I Are

2/10/2018

So here I is. Back in Tejas, snorting and kicking dirt, ready to get started. Or, rather, get finished. Much fussy work to do.

I drove two days and I cannot say that I missed the bone shaking ride of the truck. I am not accustomed to comfort in this regard, so I am suspicious. I fear I have entered the island of the lotus eaters and need Odysseus to save me.

The weather vacillated from unpleasant to pleasant and back again. First was a chilly day with rainy patches. Then it was a might too cool to work comfortably. Then, the weather warmed and I got semi busy. Now it is again unpleasant. I started doing the small projects that needed doing.

I spent time reorienting to the process. I find that reorientation is enhanced by napping.

OK let's see what I managed to accomplish this week.

We have to take this thing apart and then realign it at the coast so I drove some nails (circled) into the four pallets that the cradles are on. I  then took measurements between the nails, That way, we will get them close. The beams have to be pinned to the hulls and must align perfectly to accomplish this.  I also outlined the cradles on the hulls with a marker to show if they shift in transport. We will do other things, too.

The poor old cradles are really showing their age. I reinforced them with more screws and prayers. Juuuust a little bit longer,

A new decoration for the boat. Fujin, Japanese god of the wind. Covering all bases here, folks. Monotheism is a lot more boring.
Rocky (you remember Rocky, don't you?) completed most of the upholstery work. He has to re-do the snaps on one cushion and finish up the mattresses. Guess which color of Sunbrella fabric was the best deal?
We are targeting the move for the end of February. Many such small projects to do, like these stove brackets.

The Music♫: The Grateful Dead "Cassidy"

The lyricist, John Perry Barlow has just passed.
