Tea Bagging, Enthusiasm Sagging, No Bragging And The High Cost Of Education Both Ways

3/19/2019

Ben graduated with his masters degree. He is many thousands of dollars in debt. That's the cost of education. I have been learning the operation of the outboard motors the hard way. I have had to fix this or that and learning the operation by observation, trial and error, a lot of error. This has resulted in fees that could have been avoided if I only knew what I was doing. That's the cost of education.

And a "Hey" to Ken for the encouraging comments. Everyone else is more enthusiastic than I. I still have my eyes on the future projects. These are the necessary ones, not the nice to have projects. I first have to scrub the thing and rid it of boat yard dirt. I must shape it into a living space for me.

Each Monday I start the week enthusiastic. I think that I'll leave by Saturday. Something happens. By Thursday I start to doubt that I'll make it. Each Saturday, enthusiasm drained out of me for another week, I commit to another week of room rental.

OK. We had the big chemical fire at the oil refinery across the channel that burned up several tanks of chemicals. It took a few days to put it out. The yard had to do a rush job to get a fire boat launched to go help. Luckily, the wind as blowing away from us toward some other unlucky people.

That didn't work. Another dumb idea.

I had to pull this off the scrap motor in the yard and study how to reinstall the reverse lock mechanism on one motor. Don't bother your pretty little head, even I didn't quite get it and I studied it for quite a bit of time. Finally it worked. This took most of  a day.

The boat was back on the hard to do this. I had to wait the better part of a day to get it back in the water.

Then we put it back in the water and I took it out for a bit. The reverse locks work but are barely accessible. The port motor was grinding in reverse so.........

We pulled it back out of the water so Robbie could adjust the linkage one more time. This boat has been dunked in the water more than a 3 day old teabag.

The boat is back in the water and Robbie got the Idle adjusted. It seems like everything works!!!! This scares me...........

I think I'll be enthused again by Monday.

The Music: Dick Dale "Surfin' The Wedge"

Need I say anything? Thanks for the music, Dick.
