Made in Texas, Maiden Voyage, May Just Work: Success My Way

I am pretty damn sick of this whole problem solving thing. Everywhere I turn, there's another thing to solve. Everyone I meet tells me things I should do. This just stresses me more. That everyone guy only sees the one thing. I see it all and have to prioritize it. I have to do one thing at a time. There is much in the way and the list is long. My experience with this is minimal. The weather is not cooperating. It was cold and blowy for a couple days.

And a Hey to Ken, ATW, for his comments on last weeks blog.

Let's see what piled up this week.
Picture
We dragged the boat back out of the water again to access the motor adjustments. The shift wasn't quite right. One step forward, two steps back.
We got the port motor adjusted. The bottom unit on the starboard motor was not working right, so I spent Monday swapping it out with the junk motor in the yard. That pile of line was entangled in the propeller. I had forgotten to snug the line in all the confusion.
Tuesday, the boat went back into the water. I futzed and worried and said "I'll go for it". I went for it on Wednesday. See the video. The outboards climbed out of the water with any attempt at reverse with acceleration. The steering wheel came off in my hands. I got it back on. Coming back to the dock with a tail wind and no reverse proceeded to rip off the port side figurehead. It's all repairable. I was disheartened. The ever unflappable Robbie said it was a successful trial run: I learned something. Ben also said it was a success. I guess they're right..........
The plan is to keep the motor from tilting by using an eye on the motor and a line running down and back up to a cleat. I glued a block in place and did the epoxy 2-step procedure. This block will be where I'll screw the cleat.

My blog content is getting thinner. I hope you two guys learned something. I would hate to be an inspiration to anyone, but for those of you already entrapped in the boat building process, you know that there is another idiot out there that is successful in his own way.

Every boat has a job list
At least you can fix the figurehead yourself
I imagine the powerboat parked next to you on the hard will have a big bill for his stainless steel repair to his pulpit
She looked great in the water - almost like she was meant to be there!
