The Tying of Nots, Loose ends,

So we wrapped up small stuff this week. We decided not to do much on the motor boxes, as it's a larger project that we would like to complete in one continuous operation. If we started it then left, we wouldn't remember what we were doing or what were our thought processes. Instead we worked on finishing the little things.

Such as these oak plugs to correct (again) the motor box placement.

Someday we will get these right. The height of the boxes is a mite criical, as we have a port in the way and the top of the box must clear it. Anytime you do something astray from the plans ramifications occur and you are the one getting rammed, jammed and slammed with the consequences (Bam!).

So when Ben was Putting the side decks together, the Doug Fir split on him, something it loves to do. Ben has to gouge it out and pour epoxy into the crack. He finished the side decks and got them back into place.

I started the week with one surface to coat on the fourteen deck beams.

I applied the final two coats of epoxy to the final surface and finally finished them. Of course, we still have to cut them to length and coat the cut ends and apply paint and primer.............

The two forward hatches needed aluminum strips around three sides to deflect water from the joint. Two rubber gaskets and these deflector strips should keep the majority of the water out.

At that point, the weather quit cooperating. With a cold snap looming and cloud cover preventing any significant work, we decided to chuck it all and head back to Ohio on Thursday and arrived Friday evening. Ol' (T)Rusty with its bolt upright seating is not the most comfortable vehicle for extended road trips. We made it, though. So I hope Y'all (that's Texican) have a happy whatever holiday you celebrate and a prosperous one also (whatever that means). A warning: do not read this blog after consuming a hefty hearty holiday repast. It's difficult enough trying to stomach without eating. We are not responsible for any reactions to bad prose, mangled syntax, or bordom induced malaise.

The Music♪: Eric Loy "Carol of the Bells"

Eric plays a great harp guitar! And here's your Christmas song for this year. I suggest that you watch this video again to watch what he does!
