So, my bum knee is getting better. Our knock-you-flat colds are mostly gone. The Sun came out and life is again worth living. It was a time span that accomplished little. We lost power for a day and again for a half day due to "The Big Storm". We couldn't use power tools and the general raininess halted work. By Wednesday, things were good again. We finally got the last of the beams for both boats glued up and they are finished, except for the coating with epoxy, except for the glassing of the tops, except for the gluing on of various blocks to support sundry boat stuff, except for the painting, except for the fitting in the beam troughs, except for the cutting them to the correct length. But they are finished, dammit!
Like Moses in the wilderness, The FedEx driver drove around for five days trying to find our address in rural Texas to deliver the outboard motor for Ben's boat "The Crown". It turns out that you cannot call the FedEx center 40 miles away. Instead you have to call that guy in India, who will get the information out to the guy locally. And the driver still could not find the place! FedEx my ass; Fed Up is more appropriate. We watched the truck drive past two days running. He finally reached the promised land on Friday and Ben and I went for a spin around the lake.
Ben touched up some stuff on the Crown, like painting the bottom.
And fixing minor stuff.
and relocating nasties.
We saw a roadrunner putting on a display to a female roadrunner. Guys, when will we ever learn? I worked metal for the chain plates and blocks to support. It's 316 stainless. I cut it.
Ground it.
Filed it.
Drilled and chamfered the holes.
And finally ended up with this. They still have to be bent to a 30 degree angle.
Big stuff is bubbling to the surface. We have to figure out how to move and position the hulls to dry fit all that stuff we built. The hulls are big and heavy. I promise (Hah!) not to be too negative, as my 2 readers got worried about my sanity (too late!). This process is arduous. I try to present what's going on without the sugar coating (it's not an m&m, it's a boat). Budge has rebuilt a Tangaroa, Built a new Tiki 30, and is finishing this Tiki 38. He says that this boat is harder to build, so he will be building a Narai and eliminating everything that slows down the build. Me, I just slog on......................
Another talent gone...............................better finish the boat. Thanks for the music, Ben E.

Progress is not always too obvious but you are talking about moving hulls, another step in the right direction.
