Welcome back to this website, bringing insanity and inanity to humanity. Some sites wax poetic about red sails in the sunset, the wonders of beaches, the glories of independence. Budgetboater says I wax satanic............. ........And, like the boats in the harbor all pointing in the same direction, the saw horses in the yard blow down in the same direction. Thanks to the mighty Texas wind. Lovely. Ok, what did we do this week? Monday was a trip to the big city to purchase what stainless we need for chainplates. motor pivots et al....... Holy frijole, that stuff is expensive! Then we went over to the plastics place and got a 48" X 72" piece of 3/8" polycarbonate. Holy guacamole, that stuff is also expensive. While there, we had a Ramen lunch. Holey macaroni, that stuff is expensive. I wonder if stained steel is cheaper. Sunday we worked on the motor boxed filling dings and getting it ready for painting. Tuesday was glue the rudders back together. Ben made some sister pieces that we glued on and held together with screws. We did one side. Glue applied and raked out. Slapped together and screwed down. Ben's cleaning up the glue. I worked on the motor wells. How Motorwellian as opposed to Oarwellian................ Then we let them set up for a day or two flipped them over and did it again to the other side. Then Ben unscrewed all the screws and filled them with epoxy. The grain of the epoxy soaks up the epoxy and bubbles up so Ben had to keep popping bubles and reapplying epoxy. Bubble in screw hole! Big bubble in screw hole Popped big bubble in screw hole. Thursday was cold so we bought paint for the topside. The color: Popcorn Ball. Sheesh, who thinks up these color names? We bought 5 gallons. Holey simoleons, that stuff is expensive! I glued up the motor well sides. Warning: More clamp pictures! Ben drilled holes for the mast case bolts to reinforce the winch base. We will put in two galvanized 1/2" bolts, after we epoxy the holes we drilled. All in all, when we could work, we worked. The weather is currently beautiful. The Music ♫: Ruthie Foster, "Ring of Fire" I've seen her a few times. Another Texas girl
