Budge sent an email suggesting a modification to the pod based on Boatsmith's "Bazinga". His Ariki is 14 feet longer than the Dog, so we would scale it down a mite (a lot), We've kicked the mod concept around until it's well trampled. Now, sorting through the remains under foot, we are approaching a final solution. With the belief that it will be a series of compromises and nothing is perfect, we should hammer something out when we get back. Ben has been avoiding the whole dialog, keeping himself blissfully in the dark hands over ears singing "Lalalalala". He finally said he likes the Bazinga concept.
Here Is a video of Boatsmith happily sailing Bazinga before letting it go to his customer . Remember: smaaaaaaller (and cheaper). Basically we would extend the width of the top over the hatches, use side curtains that could be closed when the weather is bad, move the steering a bit more aft, and other tweaks. My brain gets fuzzy(er) if I think this in too much detail. We have to get the beams in place and look at the situation. Got to beam sit and conceptualize the aura of the defined space.
Meanwhile, I am retrofitting a lock into the grandfather clock case. Not an easy task. Many trips to the interweb searching for a lock that fits produced nothing. I will have to use this lock, which is the wrong handed and doesn't align with the old mortise or keyhole. I had to recut and fill in the mortise a bit and will have to partially plug the keyhole and reorient it 180° to make it fit. Believe me, it's not what I wanted. Come to think of it, nuthin' is............
I'll also be working on a bag for the drogue using this piece of sunbrella fabric. I have always taken vacations with the concept that one should stay away until you work up the desire to go back. I have been a slug this vacation: moving slowly, going nowhere. Ben has done less. We are starting to talk about the boat again and what to do. The time is approaching. We spent gobs of money on dentists and my new eyeglasses. We bought boat stuff: Wind vane parts, refrigerator, drogue parts. Budge is dreaming of masts and sails and pods. I'm dreaming of how I'm going to pay for them. The reasoning to stay here is getting as thin as the winter sun, or a politician's promises or material for this blog. It's an election year, time to get the boat on the water and get out before they close the borders.

OK, OK......................soon. Looks like after next weekend, depending on what transpires at the next dental appointment.
