Glamor, Glitter, Glimmer,

I Know why we only have two followers of This blog, aside from the fact that it's boring. How can anyone follow this? You know what we need? That's right, a girl in a bikini! The nice couple who bought the Potter follow video websites of young couples in expensive boats having fun sailing the world wearing nothing but swimsuits. That's what we need to promote our site: vicarious jealousy. I bitch too much. I must be happy, happy. I figure that maybe we could find a photogenic young girl in a bikini that can cook, repair diesel outboard motors, woodwork, and have an extensive knowledge of epoxy and sailing. Then we can make videos and have people send us money! Then we would have glamor on the site.
A short video about traditional boat making. These guys are dying out in a throw away generation. I had to fit my ship's wheel to the steering  mechanism. It required machining 0.008" off the diameter and thinning the key by 0.012". I had to search for the old guy in his part time machine shop to do it. He has another job so he can have health insurance. The old guys are dying off and the young guys are perfecting their skill level at killing zombies. I was never interested in game playing. It's just me. I'd rather build stuff. I don't fit in this world. Sam and Ben say I never did................

Three days before we were going to leave, someone cut down a maple a block and a half away from the house. The owner said we could have it. Over three days we hauled 9 truckloads of wood and piled it in the back yard. Something we can do next time. So, after procrastinating for another week, we leave Monday. I apologize for the foot dragging, but it's not a pleasant endeavor. Maybe you two followers will arise from your somnambulance and restart reading the blog. Tejas temperatures still are over 100°. We won't be in the shade. It's August we will see the glimmer of cooler temperatures on the horizon. Next week you will again see the glitter of catamaran construction, boat building and other feats of derring-do. It'll probably be more like stepping your feet in doggy-doo.

I started the stem post figure by tracing the pattern, left and right on some paper utilizing my handy light table.

I needed tracing paper, so I went to the local office supply store and asked for the antiquities department. I needed carbon paper. Turns out, it's still utilized by tattoo artists. I now have 24 sheets left, a lifetime supply! I cut out the pattern, left and right and positioned them on my wood cut outs. Using the carbon paper, I traced the detail in the Baltic birch plywood.

Using hand carving tools, I cut out the lines with a u-shaped carving tool. They still need work, but the I think Aztek carvers would give it a "5.9". When we get back, I'll work it with a Dremel tool and paint it. There are 4: two lefts, two rights. Poly chrome paint. I'll have to do some research to find good paint.
