The weather broke on Thursday and we got in some good work. Ben is working on the steps for the forward port cabin (his soon to be home sweet home). He got hung up in analysis paralysis for a while. We are dealing with practicality, aesthetics, and functionality coupled with the fact that there are no straight lines or reference points. The boat is an organic shape and nothing is straight or square. He finally got it worked out and built the steps in the cabin.
I dunno what Ben was talking about on his portion of the website. That Hugo was a lazy ass spider that mostly sat around in his pickle jar. I think the flies had to crawl into his mouth. Oh yeah, boat stuff. budget boater got one side deck made up and Ben and I glued it into place. Ben has been doing a couple different projects. He cut out some rudder parts and we laminated them together using sheets of plywood and a couple water barrels filled up with water (400 pounds). The weather got rainy and cold and prevented us from gluing anything. We Thanksgivinged on Tuesday instead of Thursday, as Budgetboater was visiting relatives. That man can fry them turkeys! We glued in Ben's stairs and the galley countertops in one swell foop. It took a bit and we mixed two batches of epoxy. On Saturday we finished up the gluing. Ben glued up the bottom stair (yeah, we screwed it up the previous day and had to start again). I glued up the end pieces under the countertop. Ben is working on the bracing under the stairs. Budgetboater got back from famlying and cut out the holes for the ports on the side of the hulls. Ya builds a boat, an 'nen ya cuts holes in it. Waddaya gonna do?
