Sheesh! Another week on the lashing strakes! They are a critical area so Ben has been doing it right. I have been acting as Heyboy on this project (hey, boy, do this; hey, boy, do that). Ben had to make sure that the lashing areas are strong with nothing to affect the rope lashed around them. Click to set custom HTML Finally, we started gluing them on. The plan was to screw them on then take the screws out once the epoxy set up. Man plans, God laughs. The epoxy set up really really really fast and we couldn't get the screws out! More colorful language abounded! We got some out, we got some half screws out, one is still in. The plan (shut up, God!) is to epoxy a number two Phillips head bit to the screw and then crank the crap out of it. That being said, we still have 4 more to glue on. They look something like this. No, they look exactly like this! Budgetboater and the tribe are up visiting #1 son for the weekend so Ben and I are trudging along without his sage wisdom and moral support. Ben has a new hobby: putting the official shop thermometer in the sun. This makes me feel really excited about working!!! Humidity on left, temperature on right. At least it wasn't 140° Inbetwixt being Heyboy, I fuddled around with the Mirror. We started the week like this: And ended the week like this. That means we turned it over. The damn thing is now getting heavy and unwieldy to maneuver so I had to build a wieldly maneuverer. A simple, clever design (I stole it). You'll notice that the hole in the bottom is smaller now. Ah, progress. Somewhere buried in our vast music collection was this song. When we first heard it, it stopped us in our tracks! Here is your latest earworm to rival the "Dancing with Bears" song. Still not an Irish drinking song!
