Toe Jam, Deck Span, Mop Damp , Rope Cams, And.................Clammmps!

Now the temperature hit 96° Tuesday (35.8 liters in metric) and hotter as the week went on, 98° today,  I  move along a mite (lot) slower. The sun is murderous. I did a bunch of small things.

I spent hours on the blocks situation (the wheelie things, remember?). Which brand is better. If you read the literature for each brand, they're all marvelous and much better than those gosh darn other brands. If you read the sailing forums you get that dreaded curse: everyone's opinion. I am in the middle of Bumphuque Texas so I can't trot down to the local tobacconist (whatever sailing stuff sellers are called) and check out each brand's quality. Cam clamps, rope clutches, eyes, beckets, sheeves.........sheesh! Budge left a list. 7 brands to choose from. Thanks a lot, Budge.

Budge, being gone, cannot motivate me. I am having trouble with the self motivation and the heat and the block orders.

The big push to the finish has begun. I have set a goal to be in a boat yard by the end of August. Will I make it???? Hah! Stay tuned fans and fannies! A goal??  What, am I crazy???  Ignore that, guys.....

Oh yeah.....'nother video ↑ → : "The Flight of Fancy of the Drone(?)" or did I do that last week? A motivation to both my fans, showing that, after trials, travails and trepidation, drudgery triumphs.

Pictures! That's what we need, eh?

I glued up another pod support beam. We shall see if we can utilize them. Those ol' bed boards were starting to warp, so the plywood was supposed to pull out the warp.
Picture
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The plywood was supposed to pull out the warp not build it in.
Picture
Nice and strong: the triple lamination was supposed to pull out the warp. I planed them all down to a uniform size, warp and all. Maybe the pieces will be short enough so the warp won't show.

I promised to show you this last week. Those motor controls are tall and the support for them just keeps getting taller. It all has to be shaped and mounted. Budge's job, thankfully.
With that added aft deck being higher than the hull, Budge said the someone could jam their toe under it and break said toe. We needed an edge board. The gap is wider than any boards we have, so I had to glue a couple thin boards together. I used some thin plywood to keep the board off the deck and traced the top edge. I cut along the line, sanded the edge and softened the ends of the board. A bunch of screws in the beams and edge of the deck made it very strong. Huzzah, we saved the toes!

We've been getting in boxes and boxes of stuff: screws and eyes, plumbing, electric, a winch a pump, water tank stuff and a couple fuel tanks.
The new aluminum fuel tanks fit perfectly (Budge measured the space). The little knob on top of the fuel cap sticks up just enough so the lid cannot close without hitting it (Budge measured it). We will have to do something like a small hole in the top or a large hole in the bottom to clear the top.

I glued a lip on each of the water tanks so the top can be screwed on (screw it to it).
I went into the two forward cabins for the final cleaning and inspection. I needed implements! A trip to the discount store and an impromptu dissertation on the caliber of various mops by a stranger, who tried (and broke) every damn one of the ones on the display except the maid of rubber twist wringer mop, which I purchased. These things weren't built for boats, so a modification was in order. I hacksawed off about a foot. Ya buy good quality, modify it, and you have a quality tool.

So, things to do, my to do list, Fix a couple cracks in the bulkheads, clean up the epoxy drips and spills (now mummified), touch up the paint, make it pretty. The process: To-Do become TA Daaaa!
Picture
My sad sorry Saturday evenings. Amongst the detritus of the multiple tasks: computer repair, boat supply lists, alcohol consumption, and storage of delicate boat components. So I leave you with two thoughts to ponder in the interum. Those pod beams were intentionally constructed to incorporate a gentle curve to enhance the aesthetics of the  lines of the hull and Budge measured the fuel tanks!
