Lashing strakes

Now, yer basic Tiki 38 Wharram catamaran has a long lashing strake running along the sides of the hulls (4 of them). Like this:

Naw, that's not my boat, it's Neil's. You can see the long piece of wood running down the side. We are not going to do that. Some people put in cool short lashing strakes that are javelin shaped like this:

Nope, still not my boat. This was the way to go until we modified the design a few times necessitating a more clunky look. This was a frustrating endeavor.  After much designing..........

And thinking.......................

We threw out a bunch of options based on the wood we have and the spirit and essence of the Dog. We embraced the clunk and persued it with gusto. Ben glued.......

All 14 pieces and Ben still had his thumb!

What????? All week and all we have are 14 pieces that don't look like much??? We decided the ol' Dog needed some decorations on these strakes. Javelins?? Nope! Long strip down the sides?? Nope.  A good dog needs..................................

Bones! I cut out 14 dog bones to glue to the strakes. I used the old strakes that Ben discarded. Woof Woof! We 2 coated the pieces and are almost finished. These things took gluing 4 pieces of wood, properly aligned, forming them, filling the voids and two coats of epoxy. This takes bunches of time, and much creative language.

Oh, yeah we worked on the Mirror, too. We moved it around several times  to try to keep it in the shade. I kept finding little things I had to do before I did anything major. Finally, we got it filleted. I know, it doesn't look like much, but there's a lot of luv in this boat (it must have fallen out through bottom).

Early in the week, we had a few showers, The temperature plummeted into the high 80's. The humidity soared and it was worse than the heat. For yucks today, we took a temperature reading in the shop.
Picture
Then put it in the sun until the LED's couldn't take it..

We are getting used to the heat, as long as there's a breeze and we stay out of the sun. We had a couple days where the official shop thermometer registered 105°!  'Tho it doesn't look like much, we were quite busy all week. Only one side trip (back to the Kamakaze dentist).
