.So with rain the half of the week and me fighting off some sort of malady, progress ground to a halt. Halt grinding is our specialty, We excel in it. It sucked. In the ennui of inactivity, I rambled through the internet. I see that the boat's designers website, ever current, still does not reference this website, though several defunct websites are cited. I must be less irreverent and more positive...................hmmmmmmmm..................................no................... I gave our card to Duckworks to list on the weekly blog update while we were in Port Aransas...........no results. I guess everyone wants pie-in-the-sky outlook and commentary. OK, everyone, buy a pie and throw it into the sky! Look at it 10 seconds later.....................that's this website! After a self treatment period of mendicaments (acetameniphines and diphenhydramine) and placebos (soup and green tea with honey and lemon), I felt well enough. Good old "get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids" works. Although the two are counterproductive. How can you get rest if you drink that much fluids? You are always heading for the bathroom. So Thursday I meandered about sans purpose and motivation. Budge had the kidz home from school and lost two days. Ben soldiered on, mostly solo.
This is a hatch. If you look hard, you can see the plywood separating under the coats of epoxy, primer and paint. If you don't look hard, everything's wonderful! Tra La!
Ben worked the port hull tops, gluing in dorados and sanding, (I'll spare you from more sanding pictures). I was useless the brunt of the week. He got the top of that section primed.
Budge sanded off the paint from last week's screw up yo make room for the dorade we forgot.
Glued it in- he's applying glue so he can flip it over and position it.
In between my bouts of indolence, I made the two washboards for the center cabins, port and starboard. In another session, Budge and I got the starboard ports installed. I also worked on the dorade tops.
Ben got his section of deck primed. On Saturday the weather sucked again, plummeting 20° to the 50's and wind kicked up to the 50's and we spent a couple miserable hours putting fillets on the dorade boxes. People with high standards should not build boats. You'll never achieve the level you strive to attain. People with low standards should never build boats. It will not be of a high enough quality to withstand the perils of ocean travel. So, who should build boats?: NOBODY!
Ah, Boat Guys!.
