Black Friday

Black Friday? This post is nothing about black Friday.

I just dumped my missive when the back up computer decided to do its own thing. My normal laptop has stuck keys. This is the result of the incompatibility of it's keyboard and a quarter glass of beer.

Most of this week involved the overcoming of the overwhelming task of planning and coordinating the Thanksgiving day meal. In a vain attempt to herd the folk around here into some semblance of order, I posted a sign up sheet. That way, we wouldn't have too much of one thing. That list was minimally effective as most people decided that they alone were the sole source of food for 20 people. The result was that we had way too much of everything and way too few of consumers. Any system works only as far as everyone believes it works. The mavericks who have a better idea always destroy the carefully thought through concept (monsters from the id, if you are familiar with "Forbidden Planet").

Pleas forgive my style of writing. I see advertisements for programs correcting grammar in writing so that everyone can write clearly and concisely............and the same. I write to be convoluted and obtuse. I attempt unsuccessfully a stream of consciousness ramble that requires effort to write and read. Hmmmmmm, maybe that's why I only have two followers.
So the galled bolts of the Sail-O-Mat remained galled and I decided to leave them well enough alone, which is galling to me.
I started work on the aft beam repair. I started with a multitool, but I wasn't happy with it. I hand chiseled the scarf until it was close, then switched to my trusty hand planer. The hand planer was no longer trusty and wouldn't turn on. I had to take a trip to Joe's shop and blow out all the dust in it until it worked. I brought it back and it again didn't work, so I went back to Joe's shop and borrowed his planer. My planer sits dismantled with the brushes frozen in their holders. I planed the surface and planed a scarf in my new replacement board. This took a lot less time than the repair attempts on my old planer.

And we lost both of these guys this year. I'll play a few Christmas songs this month..............You've been warned!
