Chronicler Of The Unclear, Master Of Mistakes, Obfuscating The Obvious: Me And The Wolves

I write this blog weekly. I know not why. I have touched on this before. Maybe I am searching for something. Oh yeah, I lost my pocket Knife a while back. I suppose writing this blog is to give inspiration to boat builders everywhere.........................naw! I am not exactly encouraging the process. Maybe it's to spew my philosophy of the ills of society on the masses and give enlightenment to the floundering who cannot survive without the knowledge of the meaning of it all......................... naw, don't know that! I used to know, but I forgot.  Perhaps a reason to drink on Saturdays ..................Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....................naw! I know. It's to keep my two faithful readers informed on my progress.............................naw! It's the literary equivalent of the wolves howling at the moon with the same result. I want to be admired as a pinnacle of boat building prowess..................................naw, just reading this blog negates that! I want to keep my friends and family aware of my activities.........................what friends? Maybe it's what I really do best in life: the art of being ignored. I seem to have a natural talent for it. Apparently adulation is for others. I work best in my own confused world. That way, I do no harm.  Oh man. I'm blathering again. I got to stop.

Ben said he would work on more videos. Insert lame excuse here, like "The wildflowers are in bloom" or "The truck broke". Wait, it did break and I had to go pick it up (new clutch master cylinder). Wait, the wildflowers are in bloom (and quite lovely, I may add). Ben is busy reinventing his life, but said he will post something. Yeah, sure...........

Hey! We Have an RSS feed button now, whatever that is, but it's important(?). It's over there → and down a bit↓. So if your RSS (Rabid Sick Squirrel?) is hungry, you can feed it, just push the button, I guess. I dunno.

Sunday was rainy. A good thing as it permitted me to relish in the aftershocks of Saturday's gastric d̶i̶s̶t̶r̶e̶s̶s̶ adventure. I ate lightly for a couple days avoiding anything that required aggressive digestion then got back on the horse and made chili.

Now you can develop gastric distress by reading this week's blog.

First up: finish screwing on the center deck slats.
Picture
Except for the last one, far left. It had to be cut down a mite. Then I was sanding and a big spike about 18" long split off and I had to glue it back on. Then, after a day, sand and apply a couple applications of Penafin. I have yet to screw it on.......

I painted the rudders with the correct color of putrid green so they will match the hulls. If you think that this doesn't seem like I did much this week, you're correct. I mostly was entangled in ennui for the better part of the week. Herky jerky starts and misadventures with epoxy kept me flat footed.
I tackled Budge and we determined the correct placement height of the rear deck beam so it would align with the hull. I drilled out holes to mount them. We had to move some, of course.
I drilled oversize holes in the beam, taped up the back and poured thickened epoxy into the holes. The holes kept bubbling up until the epoxy set up forming domes on the filled holes

I sanded the domes off, discovering large voids in the thickened epoxy. I enlarged the tops and put the thickened epoxy in a syringe and injected it into the voids from the bottom.
Picture
Of course, they started sending bubbles to the surface. Ya just can't win........

Budge worked on the motor box tops and deck between them and the hulls.

I spent a couple days going to garage sales. Got this chair, a few boat things, a Limoge plate, a motorcycle cake pan, a small table lamp with a hand painted shade. Hey OK, I confess, it was a crummy week. I blew another opportunity to be the happy boat builder. You're lucky I wrote the blog this week, or maybe not lucky.
The best thing of the week: the pet cactus is in bloom and I didn't do it.

Ben found her and told me.
