The Week Of No Visual Progress Or, Seemingly, Any Progress

I wrote a rambling opening page with a cool title. I erased it. It was worse than my normal posts, a new record! It was similar to everything I did this week. Lots of miscued attempts at accomplishment with little result. It takes a long time to weakly write this weekly missive, I must edit, re-write and read it several times. Finally I come up with something.  It's difficult. A bit of schnapps lubricates the process and reduces the inhibitions (is that about Al Capone? No that's different hibition,)

Nat stopped over. His boat is over there↑ ←. He said he loves the music. That's what this site is really about. Who wants to read some idiot grumbling and whining about the difficulty of building a boat? Wouldn't you rather get a tune in your head and a spring in your step? Music elevates us to a nobler state. And a thankya to Jackie who thinks the blog is won-der-full. Won-der-full. I wonder what I'm full of.............. I won't ask.

I talk to other sailors with boats. Lots of times they forget the proper names of boat parts. Armchair sailors know all parts of a boat. Armchair sailors have Ashley's "Book Of Knots". Sailors with boats know a just couple knots and use bowlines and hitches for everything. Armchair sailors watch sailing videos with those skinny girls in bikinis. Guys with  boats watch videos on how to service through hulls, Armchair sailors research fancy expensive boats and know their specification. Boat guys are figuring out to patch something on their boat so it will work. Armchair sailors are watching the America's cup. Boat guys are out there messing about at 4.5 knots. Armchair sailors have money. Boat owners are shaking their piggy banks. I don't know which two guys read this blog. I hoped it is boat guys, but they are probably out working on their boat.

You have been warned: this week's blog sucks. Oh, never mind, they all suck. So here it is.

I worked on the start panel. I blew out the plywood and had to fix it.
Picture
I fixed it a couple times. I filled it in with thickened epoxy. This is almost satisfactory, another 40 percenter.
Picture
I took down all the wires screwed under the deck and coated the screw holes with epoxy. I stuffed all the wires to the motors into wire looms. Wires loom? Sounds like a psychological drama. A day later I screwed all the wire supports back in.

So that was the week. Oh yeah, I did other stuff like making the battery cables, putting ends on the motor wires, attempting to label the start panel, necessitating another coat of paint to cover the smears and store trips to pick up necessary important whatnots. Are the battery cables black and red or red and yellow? I picked red and yellow to match the rest of the boat. It rained one day. The car broke. Today was cool, mid 50's (cool also in metric), but the wind was enough to make it quite unpleasant and convinced me to take a break. I took a break.

That is it. I am getting the petty stuff finished. Once I get the motors rigged, it will be easy. Next week will be cool also. I'll wear proper gear like a macintosh, mitts and mukluks, whatever necessary. Have faith you two guys.
